Sous Chef – Luxury Care Home

Our client are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team at their luxury care home and flagship property near Addlestone, Surrey.

As the Sous Chef you will be working within the Care home providing exceptional food, for Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meal service. The menus change with the season, so you must have experience of working with fresh seasonal produce. Experience working in a luxury care home setting or from a high end hotel/restaurant background is preferred.

This Sous Chef role offers a 37.5 hour week, offering an exceptional work life balance, with straight shifts and every other weekend off.

Reporting into the Chef Manager, responsibilities will include:
*Deputising for the Chef Manager, managing every aspect of catering within the location and delivering a quality catering service.
*Supervising the catering assistants on shift.
*Maintaining compliance with food safety and health & safety procedures.
*To minimise waste when preparing meals and use equipment correctly.

Required knowledge & experience:
*Intermediate or level 3 food hygiene certificate with Cater craft or similar award.
*Health & safety legislation including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
*Proven chef and people management experience.
*Basic knowledge of dietary requirements relating to older people.
*Able to negotiate, influence, organize time and prioritise activities.
*Able to work in a pressured environment and produce meals based on implemented menus.
*Flexible, innovative and able to work as part of a team and individually.

Kitchen Assistant

Our client a care home in Guildford, Surrey are currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to join their team and assist in organising and controlling the efficient and economic production of quality food, maintaining at all times the highest possible standards of hygiene.

This is a team role with 2 – 3 in the kitchen at a time. Communication is essential in order to plan and provide nutritious, interesting meals which meet the expectations of the residents.

Kitchen Assistant Key Responsibilities:
*To assist the Cook with the preparation of varied nutritious meals for the residents.
*Help with the serving of meals for residents, be understanding of any specific food requirements and ensure everyone is treated with respect, dignity and given choice.
*To understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.
*To clean and tidy all areas of the kitchen with the correct products following instruction and guidance contained in the cleaning schedules ensuring it is always cleaned to the highest standards.
*Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in full, safe working order, immediately report any faults to the Cook and the Caretaker.
*To receive and unload new stock, store appropriately and rotate current stock correctly to maintain optimum freshness of all foodstuff.
*To work as an integral part of the team, contribute to meetings and training sessions as required ensuring that it is a friendly and supportive working environment.

Kitchen Assistant Key Requirements:
-Ability to use and maintain essential catering and cleaning products.
-Knowledge of basic food preparation, stock control and rotation.
-Good communication skills.
-Practical and organised.
-Team player.
-Reliable and punctual.
-Excellent personal hygiene.

Work Schedule:
As the Kitchen Assistant you will be required to work 36 hours per week, working 4 days per week, 7.30am – 4.30pm, with every other weekend off.

Chef Manager

Our client are looking for an experienced Chef Manager to join their team at their flagship luxury Care Home near Woking, Surrey.

Set in stunning acres of landscaped gardens this Manor house, provides exceptional food, for a Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meal service.

As Chef Manager reporting into the Home Manager, responsibilities will include:
*Managing every aspect of catering within the location, delivering a quality catering service in line with health, safety and hygiene requirements.
*Leading the catering team and managing performance.
*Maintaining compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards.
*Controlling kitchen stock, equipment and resources within budget.

Chef Manager Required knowledge & experience:
*Experience working within either a luxury care home or hotel.
*Intermediate or level 3 food hygiene certificate with Cater craft or similar award.
*Health & safety procedures including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
*Proven chef and people management experience.
*Basic knowledge of dietary requirements for older people and the impact of food types on medication.
*Safe use of kitchen equipment including knives.

Required skills:
*Able to negotiate, influence, organize time and prioritise activities.
*Able to work in a pressured environment and produce meals based on implemented menus.
*Flexible, innovative and able to work as part of a team and individually.
*Basic computer knowledge.

Hours
-Full time position, 37.5 hours per week
-Straight shifts
-Alternate weekends

This position offers a salary of up to £34K + Benefits.
