A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented Chef de Partie to join a leading independent school in Farnham, Surrey.

The School caters for around 650 at lunch and 100 for supper. As well as the day to day catering they also do hospitality, fine dining and weddings so there is a broad spectrum of catering. Therefore a chef with creativity and passion for good, well presented food is a must.

They produce all food from fresh food produce, well presented, to a high standard.

This is a 48 week contract, 5/7 days a week, working shifts 7am-3pm or 12-8pm and working one in 3 weekends.

Chef

Our client, a well-established Cafe situated in a beautiful estate, is seeking a quality driven Chef who will make a positive contribution to the growth of the business over the next few years.

The 70 cover Café, serves a contemporary breakfast menu, light lunches, snacks, daily specials, Afternoon Tea, coffees and home-made cakes with as much as possible sourced locally.

They are seeking an experienced, friendly and professional team member to contribute in all aspects of delivering excellent quality food and service to our customers.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Suitable candidates must have a track record in Professional Cookery, a cool head, and be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas:
-To assist in the preparation, cooking and presentation of short order food to the highest standards in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment.
– To assist the Head Chef in the development of new dishes and menus.
-To prepare and cook sufficient food to provide the agreed amount of customer choice with minimum wastage.
– To ensure all food preparation is carried out in accordance with food hygiene procedures.
– To ensure food is prepared to required standards checking for taste, presentation and quality.
– To ensure food is served promptly and work is carried out quickly and efficiently to keep up when busy.
– To ensure portion control, preparation and storage methods, avoid wastage and keep down costs.
– To assist in completion of the weekly Kitchen Diary.
– To ensure the kitchen and service area are clean, tidy and attractive during service.
– To deal with customer/staff requests promptly and politely. Listen to customer/staff comments and deal with them as appropriate or pass on to a more senior member of staff to ensure prompt follow up action is taken.
– To ensure you know all about the food being prepared.
– To be fully conversant in food allergen legislation and ensure that all food items prepared/sold in the Café have the required allergen information available.

Hours:
This Chef role is a full-time position (40 hours per week), 5/7 days per week, day time shifts. Hours of work are approximately 7.30am-3.30pm.

The Café is located in a rural setting, so own transportation is essential.

Head Chef

Our client is a beautiful building set in picturesque grounds in Middlesex near Walton on Thames. It is mainly a conference, training and meeting venue.

They currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit their Head Chef.

They offer breakfast, lunch and early dinner services to delegates. They also provide catering for occasional fine dining meals, events, weddings, afternoon teas and Christmas lunches.

Head Chef Requirements:
*NVQ qualification or equivalent
*Excellent craft skills background
*Successful progressive background in catering
*Basic and Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
*Strong Supervisory experience
*Ability to display a real passion for food and customer service

Head Chef Responsibilities:
*Plan, prepare, cook and present food to the standards required
*Ensure that the company’s reputation for excellent food and service is enhanced with the client and customers.
*Control portion size and monitor waste
*Ensure supplies are correctly issued, used and accounted for to carry out stock takes and food rotation procedures
*Maintain records relating to food production activities and supplier information
*Ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards are maintained in line with company policy
*Set objectives and be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen
*Assess employee performance and recognise training needs and potential as appropriate.
*Hold team meetings on a regular basis to communicate targets, standards required and company and client information

Hours:
-37.5 to 40 hours per week
-Working 5 out of 7 days
-2 days off per week.
-Straight shifts – earlies 7am till 3pm or lates 11am till 7pm.

Sous Chef – Luxury Care Home

Our client are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team at their luxury care home and flagship property near Addlestone, Surrey.

As the Sous Chef you will be working within the Care home providing exceptional food, for Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meal service. The menus change with the season, so you must have experience of working with fresh seasonal produce. Experience working in a luxury care home setting or from a high end hotel/restaurant background is preferred.

This Sous Chef role offers a 37.5 hour week, offering an exceptional work life balance, with straight shifts and every other weekend off.

Reporting into the Chef Manager, responsibilities will include:
*Deputising for the Chef Manager, managing every aspect of catering within the location and delivering a quality catering service.
*Supervising the catering assistants on shift.

Required knowledge & experience:

*Able to negotiate, influence, organize time and prioritise activities.

Junior Sous Chef

Our client is an Exclusive Private Members Club in the heart of the Surrey countryside near Leatherhead.

They are looking for a committed Junior Sous Chef to join their busy and successful kitchen team and further develop their career.

As a Junior Sous Chef you will be expected to assist in the preparation and delivery of dishes in all sections of the kitchen under the supervision of the Head Chef. Hours:

Junior Sous Chef Duties and Responsibilities:
* To assist the senior chef’s by being creative, flexible and proactive
* Ensure that menu items are consistently produced and delivered at the standards set by the Head Chef
* Ability to work unsupervised in the Head Chef’s absence
* Receipt & storage of all provisions, fresh & frozen, in accordance with current food hygiene regulations including stock rotation and storage
* Ensuring all food is labelled clearly & correctly
* Checking all menus to ensure foodstuffs have been received and are prepared on time to the required standards
* Cleaning according to the cleaning schedules
* To provide assistance in the absence of other section Chef’s as instructed by the Head Chef or his Deputy
* Accept accountability/responsibility in the absence of the senior kitchen team to ensure that departmental procedures are implemented and maintained including hygiene and safety standards are in line with our 5* star hygiene rating
* To undertake training as and when required

Senior Chef – Monday to Friday

Our client caters for children’s day nurseries and they are looking for a Senior Chef to work in their busy production kitchen in Guildford, Surrey.

As a Senior Chef you will be responsible for overseeing a team of 6, preparing food for 1,300 children each day, ensuring that preparation and allergen procedures are followed.

The Senior Chef role also requires you to cover for the head chef when on holiday and some office work when the executive chef is on holiday. You will be responsible for ensuring quality of food production and staff productivity as well as some basic food safety standards.

This Senior Chef role offers fantastic working hours, working Monday to Friday, straight shifts, 5am to 2pm. There will be no weekend work required and they take Bank Holidays off (with pay!). They also close for the Christmas week.

To be successful in this role you should have previous experience in a similar senior chef role – Sous Chef / Head Chef and have a thorough understanding of HACCP. They value reliability, productivity, attention to detail and a positive attitude.

Kitchen Porter – Monday to Friday

Our client, based near Cranleigh, Surrey is currently looking for a Kitchen Porter to join their team.

As the kitchen porter you will play an essential role when you join the kitchen team. Tackling a wide variety of tasks ranging from food preparation and service, through to cleaning, stock control and other manual tasks, you will be willing to handle multiple challenges in their busy and high-volume food service. Your tasks will change on a daily basis, but over the course of a week you could expect to handle challenges such as washing up, and cleaning the fryers, ovens and the wider kitchen, shower and fridge areas. You will help in the preparation of packed lunches, and you will be encouraged to support the cooking of hot meals too.

This is a role that comes with immense scope to learn, as their experienced chefs will teach you different food preparation techniques, plus they will provide guidance on food allergies, food safety and special dietary requirements. You will also receive dry, chilled and frozen goods, so they will support you in learning about their correct storage and stock rotation to avoid waste – and they will help you achieve the relevant qualifications.

You will thrive with them if you are a team-player who has a can-do attitude, with the willingness to throw yourself into any project.

Hours:
While your usual hours as the Kitchen Porter will be 11am to 7pm Monday to Thursday (with a 30-minute break) and 7.30am to 1.30pm Friday, you will have the flexibility to work occasional weekends (for which time off will be given during the week).

If you have experience of working in a catering or domestic team, that would be desirable, but is not strictly essential, as long as you have excellent communication skills.
