Job Description
Our client, based near Cranleigh, Surrey is currently looking for a Kitchen Porter to join their team.
As the kitchen porter you will play an essential role when you join the kitchen team. Tackling a wide variety of tasks ranging from food preparation and service, through to cleaning, stock control and other manual tasks, you will be willing to handle multiple challenges in their busy and high-volume food service. Your tasks will change on a daily basis, but over the course of a week you could expect to handle challenges such as washing up, and cleaning the fryers, ovens and the wider kitchen, shower and fridge areas. You will help in the preparation of packed lunches, and you will be encouraged to support the cooking of hot meals too.
This is a role that comes with immense scope to learn, as their experienced chefs will teach you different food preparation techniques, plus they will provide guidance on food allergies, food safety and special dietary requirements. You will also receive dry, chilled and frozen goods, so they will support you in learning about their correct storage and stock rotation to avoid waste – and they will help you achieve the relevant qualifications.
You will thrive with them if you are a team-player who has a can-do attitude, with the willingness to throw yourself into any project.
Hours:
While your usual hours as the Kitchen Porter will be 11am to 7pm Monday to Thursday (with a 30-minute break) and 7.30am to 1.30pm Friday, you will have the flexibility to work occasional weekends (for which time off will be given during the week).
If you have experience of working in a catering or domestic team, that would be desirable, but is not strictly essential, as long as you have excellent communication skills.
This Kitchen porter role offer a good salary plus generous annual leave. They will see to it that you are able to balance your work commitments with your lifestyle, and you will receive a competitive benefits package that includes multiple staff discounts and a highly desirable pension scheme.
An enhanced DBS check will be carried out for the successful applicant.
If you are looking for a kitchen Porter role which offer training and progression with excellent working hours and work life balance then this could be the perfect role for you.
